Known Limitations

  • PDF files that contain raster images or photos may process slower than Ghostscript.  This is due to the fact that AcroPlot Repro was designed for higher quality print fidelity and to support “lines merge” PDF files. There may also be some cases where AcroPlot Repro is not be as fast as Ghostscript, but when it comes to “lines merge” PDF files, AcroPlot Repro is 4 to 10 times faster then Ghostscript.

  • Some DWF files process slower in AcroPlot Repro than in Océ Reprodesk or Client Tools.  This is again because of the higher quality that we strive for and also because we use our own DWF converter instead of the Autodesk Printer Development Toolkit which has known problems with Revit DWF files.  Our DWF processor should properly render all text in Revit DWF files.

  • Plotting PDF files at a reduced sheet or paper size using programs like Reprodesk will result in darker grayscales or undesirable fill patterns. These issues occur because Reprodesk is processing the PDF at full scale and then reducing the resulting TIFF by the scale factor input by the User before plotting. Since AcroPlot Repro uses a finer dithering pattern when they reduce the TIFF their routines might make it appear darker. The solution is to run AcroPlot Repro by itself or to use our Half-size program  because AcroPlot Repro will first scale down the PDF before the TIFF is created. This results in reduced sheet or paper size TIFF file that will have more consistent grayscales and fill patterns.  For more information see the Creating Half-size TIFF's section.
